I started dancing at the age of 2 1/2. I was a very shy kid and so my mom put in my classes to come out of my shell. Since I loved dance and was good at it, I took ballet, tap, jazz, and “lyrical” classes for over 22 years (this includes minoring in dance at during undergrad and continuing to take ballet classes during graduate school.) During my younger days, I taught ballet, tap, and jazz to all ages at various dance studios and also danced competitively for 15 years. My most proud moment was when I was selected as a dancer for the prestigious state-wide summer intensive training Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Arts (late 90s). Best. Time. Ever.
I retuned to ballet after a 13 year break after graduate school, but 2 years later, I tore my meniscus. After a year off, I am back at the barre now, but working hard to keep myself healthy.
